Its my advise to purchase a home inspection, pest inspection and request a seller disclosure. In California, a Sellers disclosure is required for traditional resell properties and will tell you more about the property than just a walk through can.
You should ask your agent and inspectors questions about any areas of the home you are not sure about and make sure to always trust your gut feeling. Home repairs can add up quickly so make sure you find out as much about your new home as possible. I always suggest a home warranty as well. This will give you piece of mind when purchasing a new home.
